Prequel : Farmlands and A Lucky Boy
Theo had heard this story time and time again. “We come from a great line of farmers,” his father boasted. “We were providers for princes and clergy as far back as the 1500’s!” Theo rolled his eyes. Always about the cows. Sure that’s what they were known for but he wanted them to be known for something else. Something bigger than cows.
“Pay attention boy!” his father howled. “After all, you are named after the founder of the clan, Theodoric Eringer!”
“But I don’t want to be a farmer, father!” Theo replied. “Fredric is already your heir. I do not see the need for me to stay.”
His father scoffed as he walked away. Fredric, who was standing by the door way sighed. “I know your frustrations little brother. I too want to get away from this all but the family depends on this.”
The elder Eringer placed his hand on Theo’s shoulder. “You are different from everyone else. You are gifted in growing things, yes, but you are also more ambitious than any of us has ever been. You finished college, you are talented with computers and you are still young.”
Fredric placed 2 envelopes on the table for Theo. “These came today. I hope it is good news.”
Theo looked on the table to see what the mail was. “Ah, it is here,” he said as he opened up his passport. “I do hope they will still let me into the country. My hair is not that color anymore.” He glanced at the other letter and his eyes opened wide.
Doos Peas Corporation.
Theo ripped the letter open and jumped for joy. He ran to the den where his father and brother were seated in front of the television. “I got the job! I got the job!” He exclaimed dropping the letter and running towards his room to pack.
3 days later, Theo was on a plane for Sunset Valley. With only his fishing rod, his brother’s gardening book and 16 000 Simoleons to his name, he set out to prove his father and his family name proud.
